Telling her that they [Charles and Kate Dickens Collins] plan to return to London via Gad's Hill; noting that he is writing something for the Christmas number [of All the year round]; hoping that Wilkie Collins [who suffered from gout] will "come through his visitings unscathed," but doubting this is possible since "at the Lehmanns and at Gad's Hill there is eating and drinking on an alarming scale"; mentioning a speech by Dr. [Edward] Pusey and the death of [Charles] Richardson.
